Next year we are organising the 15th edition of international high school debate tournament in Ljutomer, Slovenia, from March 8th to 12th, 2017.
At the same time this will also be a celebration of 20 years of Debate club at the host school Gimnazija Franca Miklošiča Ljutomer and for Liana Miholič that will be 20 years of coaching debaters! A great milestone for Ljutomer, Slovenian and international debate. Please, join us to celebrate with us!
The tournament is organised by Slovenian national debate organisation Za in proti, zavod za kulturo dialoga/Pre et contra, Institute for culture of dialogue www.zainproti.com and Gimnazija Franca Miklošiča Ljutomer, http://www.gfml.si/
TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE:
- Team cap: 50 teams
- Rounds: 6 debate rounds, quarterfinals, semi-finals and finals.
- Debates will be in English in Worlds Schools Debate Format.
- Rounds will be power paired.
PREPARED MOTIONS will be announced in the second half of October, the latest.
APPLICATION PROCESS The registration will open in early November. Each team should have 3 debaters, we are not accepting teams with 4 or 5 debaters. Debaters should be accompanied by at least one adult who can also judge. We do encourage teams to bring more than one judge if possible. In case there will be more teams registered than we can accept we will limit the number of teams per country. Number of judges coming with teams will be one of the selection criteria as well if needed.
ACCOMODATION We are offering three different types of accomodation: home stay, hotel or farm tourism.
REGISTRATION FEE
For the ones enjoying HOME STAYS
45,00 EUR includes 3 lunches at the tournament and other tournament expences, the other meals and local transport are provided by host families.
For the ones staying in hotel/farm tourism:
2 nights in 2 or 3 beds rooms 85,00 EUR (includes tournament costs, 2 nights with breakfasts, 2 dinners, 3 lunches)
3 nights in 2 or 3 beds rooms 125,00 EUR (includes tournament costs, 3 nights with breakfasts, 3 lunches/dinners).
4 nights in 2 or 3 beds rooms 165,00 EUR (includes tournament costs, 4 nights with breakfasts and dinners, 3 lunches).
The registration fees should be paid by January 31 2017. We will send you the information about the payment after your application is accepted.
